I created Teach Without Speaking to share my teaching experience, philosophy, and knowledge; I aim to understand and embody the Tao in my teaching by regularly writing reflections on my career as a university instructor. As a Taoist I believe that every action is a lesson. I am constantly teaching, whether I intend to or not. This awareness reminds me to be mindful, humble, and receptive.
I teach Composition 103 & 203 in the Department of English at Northern Illinois University. Currently, I teach one Composition 103 class, intern with our technical specialist, and take nine credit hours of graduate coursework. This year I will graduate with my MA English; afterwards I will continue on to a PhD in English with a focus on film and literature.
